Our Music Ministry is a vital part of our worship life here at UU San Mateo. We present a wide variety of music at our worship services and other special events. Led by Music Director Joel Chapman, our music program encourages widespread participation from members and friends alike. There is something for any musician of any age.

If you or someone you know may be interested in participating in our Music Ministry, please contact Music Director Joel Chapman.

UU San Mateo Choir

The UU San Mateo Choir presents a diverse array of repertoire, offering everything from early classical works to inspiring world music. You can enjoy these offerings on most Sundays during our 10:00 am worship services.

The choir season culminates in June with a Sunday-morning festival service celebrating music in worship. It’s a morning not to be missed!

We rehearse each Thursday evening from 7:00 to 8:45 pm starting in late August and continuing through early June, and we sing at three or four Sunday worship services each month.

Join us! We are always looking for more singers from high school age and up. There is no audition; the only requirement for participating is that you like to sing. We have a lot of fun singing together and learning music theory from our Music Director Joel Chapman.

For more information about our choir and its schedule, send an email to our Music Director.

Children’s Choir

UU San Mateo’s Children’s Choir is open to children in grades K-8. This group sings in our worship services approximately four or five times each year. For more information, send an email to Children’s Choir Director Alia Stadtlander.

House Band

UU San Mateo’s House Band is a group of instrumentalists and singers who, from time-to-time, provide leadership for congregational singing in worship as well as special musical offerings. The rhythm section (piano, bass, guitar, and drums) is often supplemented by other instruments. If you play an instrument or sing and wish to be a part of this group on a regular or even occasional basis, contact Music Director Joel Chapman.
